Peter said that Jesus has been taken up until "...the times of restitution of all things..."Acts 3:21. This issue looks at a number of topics associated with "Restitution". We know that "things aren't like they ought to be", but God has given us many signs and indications that there is a whole world beyond ours that we cannot understand. The "Heavenly Beings" article shows us an ethereal existence which preceded our physical creation. Those who, in this life, offer the level of dedication to become a member of the Bride of The Lamb may well be re-enacting events from that Spirit world. And visitors often drop in - sometimes we see them in reality and sometimes in our minds and thoughts. In the "Feasts" God has set an annual remembrance of things that have been and of things that are to come. "For the promise is unto you...even as many as the Lord our God shall call" Acts 2:39.

Going On......To be One with Jesus Christ in God Part 4 of The Series .Going On
|
In this article, the last Part of a four part series considering unique aspects of the teachings of the Christian Israelite Church, we will look at the hope of being made one with God through the Biblical simile of being married to Jesus Christ _ to become a member of "The Bride of The Lamb". The verse on which this aspect of the Church teachings is based is Revelation 21:2,9, "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife." It is interesting to see how today many of our Biblically based similes and traditions are being eroded by society. For example, the concept of a King (or Queen) ruling their subjects in harmony is ridiculed by many, the entrepreneurial steward is seen as a capitalist, and the act of self sacrifice is deemed by many to be self aggrandisement. And of course in relationships many people question the value of marriage. They argue that there is little need to make a formal, legal commitment to each other, as long as there is an intent to stay together, and don't necessarily expect it to last for life. However, Christians continue to support |
the ideals put forward in the Scriptures, and the simile used of "The Church" being the "Bride of Christ" is full of significance and meaning. Many Churches including The Christian Israelite Church offer members an opportunity to present themselves in dedication to God. Indeed this is in accordance with Scriptures. The Christian Israelite Church offers an avenue for members to make a covenant with God to present themselves to be obedient to His Laws and Commands, and thereby seek to be of the "Bride of the Lamb". The New Covenant - Israel Convicted WithinPeter said Israel was God's peculiar people for the purpose of showing " forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light" 1 Peter 2:9. God's purpose in calling Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc., was to show in their descendants that obedience and faith to His commandments is possible. The 144,000 will attain to perfect righteousness, and their physical bodies will be cleansed through God's guidance and help. Jeremiah hinted toward the reason why Israel was chosen and what will make them closer to God in Jeremiah 31:31,33,34: " I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and the house of

Judah: this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, saying Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least and I will remember their sin no more". A Closer Bond"My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever" Isaiah 59:21. Isaiah also prophesied of this closeness between God and Israel in chapter 54 verse 5: "For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called". "For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee" Isaiah 62:5. These Scriptures promise a closeness between God and Israel's descendants as a bride and bridegroom, because they were to become the "Bride of Jesus Christ". The BrideThe Book of Revelation speaks of a number of truths which God is going to fulfil; if any one of these does not come to pass, God's word would not be complete. So, if there were no `Bride' there would be no resurrection. Some of these truths in sequence are: " Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain,
|
and shewed me that great city, the Holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb" Revelation 21:9-11,14. "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready" Revelation 19:7. "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads" Revelation 14:1. "And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel" Revelation 7:4. This is the Bride sealed; those living mortals to put on immortality and they are the centre of the events in the book of Revelation. Their wedding is the triumph of good over evil, for their mortal bodies putting on immortality completes the fulfilment of the promise in Genesis 3:15, "Thou (Israel) shall bruise his (Satan's) head " by wholly overcoming physical death. Those Before the Throne"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands" Revelation 7:9. "And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled" Revelation 6:11. This group are those who have lost their physical bodies through death (their bodies corrupting in the grave). Their souls will rise form the grave to be united with their spirits, forming spiritual bodies, thus corruption putting on incorruption (1 Corinthians 15: 53.54).

"Caught up .to Meet the Lord"1 Thessalonians 4:17 reads, "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord". This passage, verses 15-17, is a reassurance that those who are alive physically, will not deter in any way those who have died, because God has allowed for mortal to put on immortality, and corruptible to put on incorruption (1 Corinthians 15:53). In explanation to this passage from 1st Thessalonians 4:17, Volume 2 of John Wroe's Life and Travels, records, "Those that are alive and remain in full faith of the redemption of their bodies, when their spirit, which their soul and body dwell in, shall enter in with the Spirit, which has been hid with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3) into their natural bodies, making them of Him, then they shall be caught up in the air to meet their Lord, their Husband, so that their breath is their wings these being mortal, changed to Immortal, the Spirit, with their spirits, being put within their temples, caught up in the clouds, meeting the Lord in His coming. So will they ever be with Him, He dwelling in them, they dwelling upon this planet " What an amazing and concise explanation of Jesus Christ's return: Those who have looked and prayed for physical redemption, their spirit and the Spirit from God, will enter in to their soul and body, so that God will dwell "in" them, as Jesus said, "Abide in me, and I in you " John 15:4. This life of blood as we know it, will be changed to life by the Spirit
A Physical Change to Show God's PowerSo, if there were no Bride, there would not be a wedding; and we can say then, that it is necessary for the Bride to attain to righteousness of faith and obedience if she is going to be ready for the bridegroom, so that the victory of good over evil as declared by God, will come about. The Bride will have reached the standard of righteousness to which Jesus attained - true obedience transcending the need of repentance (Romans 9:4; 1 Samuel 15:22; Micah 6:6-8; Amos 5:21-24). The group called "The Bride" are a separate group from the friends that are invited or those that are around the throne. The friends invited to the wedding have had Christian faith and Christian works, and this has qualified them to be present, and to witness the triumph of the "the Lamb". However, their discipleship has not arrived at the standard of perfection where "doing the Will of God" through the Law and Gospel is able to make them equal with Jesus Christ(Matthew 12:50). Israel's glory is to be the Physical (Immortal) Bride in the Bridegroom (Jesus Christ). This is declared by the Old Testament prophets as well as the New Testament Revelation. Jesus' body was physical, and so Israel will need to be the same, having been changed from "mortal to immortality" (1 Corinthians 15:51). They will have followed in the steps of Jesus Christ, having the Two Immortal Spirits of God (Christ and the Holy Ghost) to direct and lead them.

"within" and so they will ascend to meet the Lord. They will ever be "with" Him, as a "Bride" adorned for a Husband. How simple an explanation to so marvellous a revelation! Truly God will confound the learned with simple wisdom. Descendants of Israel by presenting themselves to do God's Will, are showing the faith of their fathers. Their spirits are known from the Spirit Creation, and are fore-ordained to be made in the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29). "The Bride of the Lamb" - the Goal of Faithful Christian IsraelitesThe Christian Israelite Church is one of the many Churches in the world today, but we believe it is a Church with distinct differences. Building on a Christian foundation, its message is different, its hope is different. If its members were able to manifest its doctrine in their every day living, it would be a Church whose members were displaying a personal commitment, and a loving desire to extend its message to all brothers and sisters of the Israel of God, even those who as yet are not its members in name, although they are in spirit. In times past, God scattered the ten tribes for their disobedience, to regather their descendants again in these latter days, when their wholehearted desire will be to be obedient. Those of this lineal descent are being awakened and are searching for God's Truth whilst asking the way to Zion (Christ and the Holy Ghost) with their faces thitherward (Jeremiah 50:5). They are Christians of Israelite descent. Can Anyone Hope to live and not pass through Death?What is the cause of Death? Death is the penalty for evil. Evil came into man when he disobeyed God's Commands |
(Genesis 2:17). The evil in man is what Satan attracts, and when an evil thought is put into action, that is a sin for which the soul is chargeable. Yes! Isaiah declares it is not a false hope when he definitely states, "Your covenant with death shall be disannulled" Isaiah 28:18. Satan has been given the power of death by permission of God, and he works it by attracting the evil within the body that is in varying degrees in each individual, thus causing them to sin against God. If his attraction of the evil is removed, he is rendered powerless and ineffective; so the obvious course for those who believe it can be done, and who desire to have it done, is to seek to God to remove the evil. He has promised to do this for those who sincerely seek unto Him through the superior Power of Jesus Christ's two-fold Sacrifice and Resurrection. God is looking for a willing people to show His Power in, to overcome the influence of Satan. Satan can work only where there is evil, and each and every one has inherited evil in the blood. The way has been made in these last days for the blood to be cleansed. Once this has been done, Satan's attraction will have no effect, and thus man will not sin. Joel 3:21 prophetically tells of this, "I will cleanse their blood that I have no cleansed". This then will be the preparation of our temple (body) to be made ready for God to dwell in, for He cannot dwell where there is evil. This cleansed condition will not be for every person. No, it is only for the small elect number who will make the effort to cooperate with Him to do His will as He wants it done. This means living a life different from most people. Paul speaks of this in Romans 12:2, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God". "Perfect will of God ". Yes, God has a "will" and He has shown it to His children all through the Bible. It can be summed up in a
|
| ||||
|
few words, " Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people" Jeremiah 7:23. Perfection, we know, is a high ideal, and we have to admit we cannot achieve it of ourselves; we must seek through prayer for help from God, for His Two Immortal Spirits to do the work in us. Do what work? Yes, faith alone will not make us a fit temple for God to dwell in (James 2:17). A work of righteous living, a work of obedience to God's Laws is required. To help us to do this, we need to make a covenant, or enter into an agreement with God that He will help us. We need to make a personal commitment to God, that we will not conform to the evil ways of the world (Jeremiah 31:31-33). We need to study to learn what God requires us to do, and live every day ready to welcome our Saviour when He returns. One of the most comforting truths we have is that Jesus Christ will soon return and set up the Kingdom of God here on earth. Just where will this be? Luke 17:21 says, " the kingdom of God is within you". Yes, the Kingdom will be set up in the 144,000 living temples (bodies) of men. The Christian Israelite Church preaches the cleansing of the body through the removal of the evil, and redemption of spirit and soul and body from the destructive effects of the evil within. We believe this teaching is unique - it is not a new message, but one that was given to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph, and revived again in these latter days. We are not looking for a mass revival, |
but at God's appointed time, these descendants will come forth as "mushrooms overnight" after a shower. The type is also shown in the building of Solomon's Temple. As the stones were prepared away from the site, yet when brought together, all fitted perfectly into place, so, too, God is quietly preparing His present day Israel in different parts of the world. At His appointed time, these living "stones" will come together and form one complete bride for the Bridegroom, His Spirit dwelling in each one of the 144,000 temples. When Will this take Place?It will take place when Jesus Christ returns. No one knows the exact time, but Bible prophecy shows it to be imminent. Matthew 25:1-13 speaks of the ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom to come. They all knew the marriage was about to happen, and they sat waiting, but when the time actually came, only half of them were ready. Are you ready to meet your Bridegroom when He returns? There is no advantage in having a lamp without the oil, likewise there is not point in having the hope or desire without the understanding of what God requires, and the Power of His Spirit to be able to do it. The Christian Israelite Church proclaims a way to be ready; this can provide the "oil" for those who desire to be ready, for when the Bridegroom does come, it will be too late to buy it then, and He will say "I know you not", and the door will be shut. So the marriage will take place; those who are only in a de-facto relationship will not enter into the marriage chamber. God requires true and unconditional commitment from those who collectively will form the Bride of the Lamb.&

(Luke 11:13)
This hymn contains the Whitsuntide message in a prayerful manner as dictated by the words and tempo of the tune. Whilst singing the words, believers are seeking to God Jehovah's Spirit, the Holy Ghost, to bide with them and guide them to keep His laws, statutes and commands. Today we should aspire to make the reference to us a personal one for each of us. The Holy Ghost has set a precept, which is a rule for action or conduct, for us. Whilst we know in our hearts what is required, we have to seek to the Holy Ghost to help us put faith with works to carry out His instructions and try not to depart from them. This will unlock or unseal the truth and let light shine in the darkness. This inspiration is required until ultimately the glorious day appears when those who have done the work can have claim to be part of Jehovah's kingdom on earth. The hymn continues in acknowledging the need for further help to overcome `evil', and to free us from our `enemy' within us. We shall then have attained the complete condition required for immortality and God will shine within us, and we will experience the fulness of God's love. Let us seek for the outpouring of the Holy Ghost whilst we prayerfully read Hymn 123. Come, Holy Ghost, our hearts inspire, Let us Thine influence prove; Source of the old prophetic fire, Fountain of Light and Love.
Come, Holy Ghost, (for moved by Thee The prophets wrote and spoke), Unlock the truth, Thyself the Key, Unseal the sacred Book.
Expand Thy wings, celestial Dove, Brood o'er our natures' night: On our disorder'd spirits move, And let there now be light.
God, through Himself, we then shall know, If Thou within us shine; And sound, with all Thy saints below, The depths of love divine.

Christian Israelite Church in Poland and Russia In 1998 and 1999 exciting movements of the Spirit have been going on within the Christian Israelite church on an International scale with expansion to Poland and Russia. As we know, these two countries were closed until very recently as regards religions and Christianity.
The headquarters for the Christian Israelite Church in Eastern Europe is in Radom, Poland and can be contacted at the following: Kosciol Chrzescijan Izraelitow26-600 Radom u1.Kusocinskiego 12/30 Republic of Poland. Telephone: 48 369 9120 and the contact person is Edward Spyra.
The Postal Address is: Christian Israelite ChurchPO Box 61 02-303 Warszawa 79 Republic of Poland
WARNING EDWARD SPYRA IS NO LONGER A MEMBER OF THE CHRISTIAN ISRAELITE CHURCH During July and August of 1999, Edward SPYRA (mentioned above) and Alexander Moskalenko (from Russia) undertook an Outreach Trip to Russia, visiting members and interested friends there. They met with the Minister of Religion in Russia and signed official papers for the Christian Israelite Church to be officially recognised in Russia as a practising religion. Official recognition of the Church came through on 1st August, 1999, so as from that date the Church now has five groups meeting in various areas of the Russia. Edward SPYRA spent some time in Moscow and then travelled to Krasnadar. The members in Russia had already translated Volume 2 of John Wroe's Divine Communications and printed off 1000 copies, so even literature has become available for the members in their own language. The members there all became involved in the proof reading of this work, so it became a united spiritual effort on behalf of all members and

an invaluable theological exercise for all concerned. In mid August Edward SPYRA visited Murmansk, within the Arctic Circle, so the temperature would obviously have been evidence of the region he was in. Murmansk, at this stage, has the largest group of Christian Israelite Church members and so has been nominated as the Christian Israelite Church Headquarters for Russia. A meeting room has been leased there so members have a place to meet together and worship. So the Spirit moves in exciting and original ways. The spread of the Church to Eastern Europe has brought us into the 21st century with a renewed optimism. We pray that the Church in Poland and Russia will continue to grow, not only in numbers, but also in spirituality and in understanding of God's Will.&

Pentecost - Then & Now | ||||||
|
The Day of Pentecost was one of the special annual celebrations commanded by God to the Israelites whilst they were in the land of Canaan. This Day was fifty days after the Passover Feast, which was kept as the anniversary of their deliverance from their slavery in Egypt. The Feast of Unleavened Bread marked the beginning of the Harvest, and the Feast of Pentecost marked the end of it. Every male in the nation was commanded to attend the services of the Sanctuary on the occasion of the Feast of Pentecost, and it was expressly forbidden to come empty-handed. The offerings consisted of the first fruits of the corn and wheat harvests which were then completed. "Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which He hath given thee" Deuteronomy 16:17 (also read Exodus 23:14-17). The Hebrews called this solemn festival the Feast of Weeks because it was kept seven weeks after the Passover. In the first chapter of Acts, we may read of Ascension Day when Jesus Christ ascended into Heaven. No doubt the disciples would have been somewhat bewildered and disappointed had not our Lord revealed to them that something important was to happen in a few days. He told them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the fulfilment of the Promise of the Father (v.4). He told them John the Baptist |
baptised with water, " but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth" Acts 1:5,8. The total number of disciples was " about an hundred and twenty" " and when the Day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place". There came " a rushing, mighty wind" and the Spirit appeared as cloven (cleaved) tongues of fire (denoting the Power of the two Immortal Spirits, Christ and the Holy Ghost) and " sat upon them". It is recorded that the conflux of Jews from all parts of the known world to Jerusalem for the celebration of the Jewish Feasts, and especially that of Pentecost, was enormous, sometimes exceeding two million. On this inspired occasion they wondered and marvelled, knowing that those who spoke by the influence of the Holy Ghost, all were Galileans, and yet each one of them heard in his own language the wonderful truths of God. The disciples spoke, and God gave the interpretation according to each man's language, understanding and faith.

This glorious fulfilment of God's Promise reinforced the disciples with such Spiritual Power that, successfully, they laid the foundation of the early Christian Church in the face of much misunderstanding and opposition. At this time the Sacrament of Baptism frequently was conferred on the Day of Pentecost and on the following Sunday, those baptised wore white robes. This particular Sunday then became known as `White Sunday', and today we have the abbreviation `Whit-Sunday'. Adding to its importance, the following day was adopted as a Bank Holiday in England during the past century, and the period is now known as Whitsuntide. Today, in our still predominantly Christian country, the language used mainly in our Christian Churches and gatherings for worship and praise, is the English language (although this trend is changing somewhat with the multicultural aspect of Australian society increasing all the time). All who speak or read in English, speak or read the Word of God in this one language, and yet how many, many different interpretations of the same words are heard! Truly has it been said that the standard of religion is according to the degree of faith one has in God. Each person drinks from the Well of Life (the Spirit of God) according to the level of their faith. |
In the beginning, man fell from the level of God's perfection, and ever since has seen as " through a glass darkly", and in varying degrees of darkness. Nevertheless, the perfect light of God's truth is still shining and giving forth its radiant beams. Man has the privilege of being enlightened by it, according to his faith and understanding, and his co-operation with the Spirit of God. The spiritual aspect of the Well of Life, of which Jesus Christ spoke in John chapter 4 is still available from God for man to drink. The extent of man's partaking from the Well of Life is his decision, entirely. He may drink from the top level of faith in the on power, God Jehovah, to overcome sin, and accordingly as he drinks, so does he receive. Another may drink to the level of the two powers (God Jehovah and Christ) to overcome for him and to receive of that virtue, but he will drink and thirst again; he will sin and repent, and sin again and repent, to receive at the end of his faith, the salvation of the soul. Another presents his whole being a living sacrifice unto God, in faith, and obedi
|
| |||||
|
ence to the Will of God, for Him to prepare and make acceptable. He it is who drinks deeply to the bottom of the Well of Life, to receive, in God's appointed time, the full virtue of the three powers (God Jehovah, Christ, and the Holy Ghost). He will not thirst again, but he will have the Well of Life springing up within him unto eternal life of spirit and soul and body without experiencing physical death. He will not have come empty-handed to Whitsuntide, but will have prepared himself so that his whole being may receive the first fruits of the Spirit (Romans 8:23; Revelation 14:4). There, the waters are gloriously pure and cool, refreshing and rejuvenating, uplifting and illuminating, and with power to enable man to triumph over all evil and sin, and to see God face to face. Today, long white robes are worn as an emblem of purity, and to evidence the desire to be clothed, wholly, with God's Holy Spirit. Today, the privilege and the opportunity is here, in our midst, for man to desire and embrace the virtue of God's Glorious Trinity to heal him of the wounds Satan has inflicted, and according to his faith, so shall it be (Matthew 9:29). Today, let us review the standard of our faith in God. Let us build upon our former foundation, and go on unto God's Perfection (Hebrews 6:1-3). Let us say, "Lord, I believe; help (heal) thou mine unbelief" Mark 9:24. "Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ" Acts 2:33,36.&

Obedient Elijah
Are you obedient - do you always do as your Mum or Dad tell you? Our parents try to bring us up to be the people God wants us to be, that is, obeying the laws of our country and the laws of God. The Bible tells us of those who did obey God and were blessed because they did. Elijah was one such man. Elijah was a prophet who lived in the time when Ahab ruled Israel. Ahab did far more wicked things than any King of Israel who lived before him and he worshipped Baal. Of course we know there is only one God - He who made the sun, moon and stars, the earth and all that is in it, He made the animals and birds - He created the people - yes, we know this, but Ahab was bad, he did everything against God's wishes. God told Elijah to speak to Ahab - to tell him there would be no rain or dew on the earth for years unless He, God allowed it. This was punishment for Ahab because he had turned away from God and so, there was famine in the land, a shortage of food and water. However, God told Elijah to go to the Brook Cherith where he would have water to drink and he said, "I have commanded the ravens to feed you there". Elijah went and the birds brought him bread and meat twice each day! Did you notice that Elijah did as God said and so God took care of him? Again did you notice that even the birds did as God commanded? Isn't that really wonderful? After a time, the Brook dried up and God told Elijah to go to Zarephath to a widow lady whom God had commanded to look after him. Elijah went and found the lady at the city gate gathering wood for her fire and he asked her for some water and a little bread. However, the lady said she only had a handful of flour and a little oil left, that she was going to bake a cake for herself and her son, after which, they would die, as they had nothing else to eat. Elijah asked that she bake a cake for him first and afterwards make one for herself and her son, for God had said that neither the barrel of flour nor the bottle of oil would get any less until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth. The widow did as Elijah said for she trusted God and it happened just as Elijah had told her - the lady, her son and Elijah had enough to eat. Now, did you notice again, how the lady obeyed the word she believed came from God, through Elijah? Obedience to God is always rewarded - He takes care of those who obey Him. Elijah received a very wonderful reward, for he was taken up to heaven without dying, to live with God!!&

"The boneless tongue, so small and weak, Can crush and kill," declares the Greek. "The tongue destroys a greater horde," The Turk asserts, "than does the sword."
A Persian proverb wisely saith, "A lengthy tongue - an early death." Or sometimes takes this form instead: "Don't let your tongue cut off your head."
"The tongue can speak a word whose speed," The Chinese say, "outstrips the steed." While Arab sages this impart: "The tongue's great storehouse is the heart."
From Hebrew hath this maxim sprung, "Though feet should slip, ne'er let the tongue." The sacred writer crowns the whole, "Who keeps his tongue doth keep his soul!"

If all that we say, in a single day; With never a word left out, Were printed each night, In clear black and white; T'would prove queer reading, no doubt.
And then, just suppose, ere our eyes we could close; We must read the whole record through. Then wouldn't we sigh, And wouldn't we try A great deal less talking to do?
And, I more thank half think, that many a kink Would be smoother in life's tangled thread, If half that we say, In a single day, Were left forever unsaid.

Messengers of God | ||||||
|
Messengers of God have played some vital roles in the history of this world. God's messengers are generally referred to as angels, but within this group of angels is a hierarchy that is unique. An angel is basically a messenger. The word angel comes from the word malak (which word is used for both humans and angels) and infers an envoy with a commission, not only carrying a message, though this is a primary function (see Zechariah 1:9; 5:5). Generally it is found that angels manifest themselves as males or men (Genesis 18:2; Acts 1:10). Chart showing the breakdown of cherubim, seraphim, angels, etc. ArchangelsHow many times have you read about seraphim and cherubim and archangels in the Bible and wondered what are these supernatural beings that are used as emissaries and messengers of God. We find on examining the term archangels that this word is a collective word incorporating two types of archangel: Seraphim and Cherubim. The word archangel comes from the Greek word archaggelos meaning `chief messenger'. The word archangel is a Greek word, it does not appear in the Old Testament (references in the New Testament are 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and Jude 9). They were created before the creation of the world (see Job 38:4-7) thus their creation would appear to have been prior to the creation account given in Genesis 1.

It makes an interesting study to analyse these two types of archangels and look at the roles they performed and what their function was. No discussion on archangels would be complete without some reference to Lucifer's fall from grace and the rebellion in heaven. SeraphimSeraphim are only mentioned in Isaiah chapter 6. Seraphim surround the throne of God. Seraphim declare the holiness of God Almighty, " I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory" Isaiah 6:1-3. The beasts in Revelation 4:8 have a similar description: "And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come." The seraphim chant day and night to the glory of God Almighty. The seraphims stand above the throne of God proclaiming God's Glory, constantly answering each other. They are literally afire with devotion to God. In Hebrew terms, to ascribe the term `holy' 3 times means to recognise God as extremely, perfectly holy. Therefore they praise and proclaim the perfect holiness of God.

Seraphim are also involved in cleansing as seen in Isaiah 6:6,7: "Then flew one of the Seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: and he laid it upon my mouth and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged". Most noteworthy amongst the class of seraphim, some believe, is the Archangel Michael (the name means `who is as God'). He is the highest of the angelic hosts and it was Michael and his army who defeated Satan during the spirit rebellion. Michael is also known as the `Prince of Israel'. The word seraphim is from the Hebrew word meaning `burning, noble'. Thus, the seraphim are known as the `burning ones'. Seraphim is the plural of seraph. To be seraphic means to be burning or enflamed with love or zeal; pure; refined from sensuality; holy; spiritual. Another seraph that may be familiar to readers is Raphael (`God has healed'). It was Raphael who guided the young Tobias in the writing of the Apocryphal book of Tobit.
CherubimThe word cherubim means `those grasped or held fast', thus a cherub is one who grasps and holds fast. Cherubim are mentioned a few times in the Bible and most people would be familiar with at least a few of them by name: Gabriel, Uriel, etc. Cherubim play a vital role in the angelic assembly and often are God's Heralds to announce an important event or happening. The cherub, Gabriel, was the angel who visited Mary to tell her of the impending birth of Jesus (Luke 1:26). Gabriel is also the angel who came before Daniel telling him of the future (Daniel 8:16; 9:21) as well as the angel who visited Zachariah and told him of the future birth of his son, John the Baptist (Luke 1:19). In the Old Testament there are numerous instructions given on the construction of the Ark of the Covenant and the Mercy Seat, most especially with the placement of the cherubim. (Read Exodus chapters 25, 26, 36, 37). In 2 Kings 19:15 we are given a prayer by Hezekiah where he prays, "O Lord God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God".
|
| ||||
|
Thus we are told that God dwells between the 2 chief cherubim - one of which was Lucifer. In Psalm 80:1, "Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth". What do cherubim look like? Is there any hint in the Bible as to their make up? The best description is probably found in Ezekiel, "Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning and above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it." Ezekiel 1:5-14, 26. So cherubim have an extraordinary appearance with four faces - that of a man, lion, ox and eagle; with four wings each with a hand underneath, and feet like a calf, gleaming like burnished bronze. They also have four wings and whichever way they move, they move in a forward direction following the Spirit. Their eye and purpose remains solely and wholly dedicated to the service of the Spirit. |
Cherubim were instructed to guard the garden of Eden, "So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life" Genesis 3:24. It could be said that cherubim have the guarding protecting function in the angelic hierarchy, for they were instructed to: 1. guard the holiness of God 2. guard the way to the tree of life in the Garden of Eden 3. protect the tabernacle and temple through the cherubim over the mercy seat in the Holy Place(Exodus 26:1; 1 Kings 6:23-29). In summary cherubim know most Luciferseraphim love most Michael The Angel of the Lord Also called the Angel of God. Obviously at a higher level than the other angels because this angel actually speaks for God in the first person. " A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name: but he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb

priest "standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him". Who else but Christ could it be? Zechariah 1:9-17 has the angel of the Lord standing amongst the myrtle trees, this angel shows that God has emissaries on this earth, "And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest". The Morning StarsThis is an expression found numerous times in the Bible in relation to Jesus Christ, but the Bible doesn't just speak of one. Jesus Christ is the `bright and morning star' but then who are the `morning stars' (plural) spoken of in the Scriptures? Job 38:7 describes the spirit creation, "when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place" Job 38:7,12. The `morning stars' witness the creation of the world, they sang to the glory of the Creator. So these `morning stars' have been around since the very start of this creation. "And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star (Greek word proinos meaning early/former)" Revelation 2:26-28. If we keep doing God's Will and following God's Commands there is a definite and explicit promise in this passage that the Father will then give the worker the `morning star'. This must be a great reward - thus my conclusion that the `morning star' given is the ` life of the body'.

to the day of his death" Judges 13:6, 7 (but the whole chapter is worth reading with regards to this angel of God) - this passage deals with the conception of Samson. It was the `angel of the Lord' that visited Hagar and told her of the birth of Ishmael, "And the angel of the Lord said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude. And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael: because the Lord hath heard thy affliction" Genesis 16:10. Gideon realised to whom he was speaking when he proclaimed, "Alas, O Lord God! for because I have seen an angel of the Lord face to face. And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die" Judges 6:22,23. It was the `angel of the Lord' that appeared to Moses in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush on Mount Horeb. "And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God" Exodus 3:4,6. The angel of the Lord also appears to lay a rebuke on Israel as in Judges chapter 2, where the angel of the Lord details what He (God) has done for His people and how ungrateful they have been. As can be seen the `angel of the Lord' is of exalted status, and obviously, as He speaks in the first person, not like Gabriel who speaks on behalf of God to Mary, etc., this angel says He is God, thus the `angel of the Lord' must be the spirit Christ. And if we have any doubt of the exalted position of the `angel of the Lord' we read in Zechariah chapter, of Joshua the high

1 Corinthians 15:41, "There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory". We have already seen that the `morning stars' differ from the other stars in glory, and there are many, many other stars as well as the glory of the sun and the glory of the moon. Revelation 2:28: "And I will give him the morning star". and 22:16 "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star". "I shall see him (the Messiah), but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth" Numbers 24:17. Jesus Christ being the `bright and morning star' we also know is the `firstborn of many brethren', thus the morning stars that are so numerous in number must be the spirits of the 144,000 who remained true to God and Michael during the rebellion. This incorporates the hope of the Christian Israelite Church, that members seek to dedicate their lives to Christ and follow God's laws and commandments as given in the Old and New Testaments to be raised |
without feeling physical death (examples of Enoch and Elijah both raised without death) to become one of the brethren of Jesus Christ, of which He was the firstborn. In conclusion, there was a rebellion prior to this creation in heaven, the result of which was the fall of Lucifer to be renamed Satan and to fall from the presence of God to a life without light and goodness. Satan only has a `little season' on this earth to twist and tempt mankind towards his perversions. Michael and his army will again defeat Satan, but this time he will be chained permanently in the bottomless pit, never again to exert his malevolent and evil influence over God's creation. At the same time though, there were a group of spirits known as the `morning stars' who would adhere to God's instructions and become sons of God as was Jesus Christ. There were numerous other heavenly messengers, designed and conveying God's Will on this earth. We have also been shown, and will expand upon this theme in a later article in this magazine, that even angels can fall from grace and lose the light of God's favour by making themselves higher than the Creator. A lesson for all mankind, you are not in charge, God is.&

A Legion
"Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" Matthew 26:53. Ever wondered how many was in a legion? A legion was the body of men used in the Roman army at the time. A legion consisted of about 6,000 men, usually backed by an equal number of auxiliary troops. Jesus is saying that His Father could send him MORE than twelve legions of angels - which is 72,000 angels with 72,000 auxiliary angels making 144,000.&
Statement of Belief | ||||
|
The Christian Israelite Church beliefs can be fully supported by the Scriptures. Here is an outline: We Believe * In God Almighty creator of all things (Genesis 1:1). * In the existence of Satan, the Devil, in whom God allowed iniquity to be placed (James 2:19; Ezekial 28:14,15). * That God created a spirit-existence in which the devil manifested evil and caused some of the spirits to rebel against God (Isaiah 14:12-14; Jude 6) * That God created our physical world, to which each person comes with a body and a soul made alive by a spirit from the spiritual creation (Luke 9:55; Genesis 2:7). * That God gave His people instructions on the way they should live, which instructions were "for their good always" (Deuteronomy 6:24). * That all have sinned and come "short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23; 2 Corinthians 5:19). * That God has reconciled the (whole) world to Himself through the sacrifice of Jesus (John 3:16,17). * That through belief in the sacrifice of Jesus believers are counted as righteous before God, and can be assured of the resurrection of their souls (a Spiritual body) at Jesus' return (1 Timothy 4:10; 1 Corinthians 15:44). * That there will be a small number who will fully prove their faith by a work of true obedience to God's instructions and will thereby receive the prize of the highest calling of God, the redemption of spirit and soul and body - this living mortal Body made Immortal without seeing death (1 Thessalonians 5:23; Revelation 14:1-5; Hebrews 11:39,40). * That Jesus Christ will return to this earth again, subdue the power of Satan and reign forever and ever (Revelation chapters 19 and 20) * That the return of Jesus Christ is near and we are living in the period described in Scripture as the latter days (Matthew chapter 24; Mark chapter 13 and Luke chapter 21) * That there are promises in the Scriptures especially to Israel - God's chosen
people (1 Peter 2:9). | ||||

Expand Your Bible: | ||||||

Have you ever seen an angel? Angels are given all sorts of jobs to do and have played quite an active part in man's affairs. They have appeared as shining lights or dressed as men - they have acted as guides to travellers and opened prison doors. Human eyes have seen them and human ears have listened to them. Human hands have abused them and human tongues spoken against them. There have also been evil or wicked angels written of in the Bible, working to confuse people and hold back God's work. Often these wicked angels pretend they are angels of light and good and are even capable of working miracles. How difficult to tell between them at times! Let us examine a few angelic visits more closely. God spoke directly to Abraham on many
|
occasions, but on others angels were the message carriers. On one occasion as Abraham sat in the doorway of his tent in the heat of the day, three travellers appeared before him (Genesis 18:1-15). Showing typical hospitality, Abraham invited them to rest while water was brought to wash their dusty feet and a meal was prepared for them. It was then that they gave Abraham the message that Sarah would have a child in the next year. Abraham at the age of 100 and Sarah not that much younger must truly have had their faith tested. Angels appeared again as men to Lot as he sat at the gate of the city of Sodom (Genesis 19:1-17). The travellers intended to stay in the streets all night, but Lot knowing the men of Sodom, offered them hospitality in his house. When the men of the city surrounded Lot's house demanding that he hand the men over to them, the angels confused the city dwellers with blindness and then saved Lot, his wife and his two daughters from the doomed city. At what stage did Lot recognise these visitors as angels? Zaccheus, the priest, was told of the birth and naming of his son to be born - John the Baptist (Luke 1:11-20). We are given no idea what this angel looked like but it would seem that he did not appear as a man. At Christmas time when we celebrate Jesus' birth we have evidence of quite a few angelic appearances. Some angels have names, and one such, the angel

Gabriel, was sent to Mary to tell her of the wonderful and privileged role she was to play in the birth of the Saviour (Luke 1:26-38). Another was sent to Joseph to tell him that he was not to reject Mary, but that the child she was carrying was to be the Saviour of mankind (Matthew 1:20, 21). These angels appeared in angelic form - to Mary as she sat at home and to Joseph in a dream. A whole host of angels proclaimed Jesus' birth to the shepherds, as these humble men watched their sheep (Luke 2:8-12). The shepherds had to have faith and show acceptance of the message and go in faith to worship the new born babe. How would you react to a message given to you by a host of angels singing in the heavens that a baby born in a stable was to be a king - and no ordinary king at that! Again an angel appeared to the wise men telling them not to report back to King Herod as they were told to by him (Matthew 2:12). This message was given in a dream but it must have been real enough for them to obey. Joseph, too, was warned in a dream to escape to Egypt. Sometimes the angel giving the message is visible and sometimes not, or it may be visible to some and not others, depending on whether the person being spoken to is ready to listen. A story about an angel which always seems interesting is that of Balaam and his ass. This story from Numbers 22:23 is well worth reading and shows how the promise of fame, wealth and riches can often blind the eyes to what God is trying to tell us. Balaam was being bribed by such promises to curse Israel and in spite of the fact that God had told him not to go with the king's messenger, he went. His ass saw |
the angel of God standing in the path, but his rider, Balaam, could not. Three times the ass baulked and refused to move - three times Balaam beat the ass and cursed her for her apparent stupidity. At last the ass spoke to Balaam and his eyes were opened to see the angel with a drawn sword preventing his journey. The angel observed to Balaam that the ass was more righteous than him. Perhaps like Balaam we will not listen closely enough to God to take His advice. Do we see angels today? Do they still speak to people? There are many stories told of people who have had the feeling of a presence with them to warn or protect them or guide them in the right direction. Is this unseen presence an angel? A wonderful verse is that from Psalm 34:7, "The angel of the Lord encampeth around them that fear Him and delivereth them". Again we are told in Hebrews 13:2 that many have entertained angels unawares. Check through the Bible and see how often angels have been sent to warn and comfort man. So I ask the question again Have you seen an angel? Would you know if you had? Have you had any experience in your life where you have felt and extra presence and that presence has directed and protected you? Was this an angel? "But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Hebrews 1:13,14.&
Timothy | |||||
|
The first mention we have of Timothy/Timotheus in the Bible is in Acts 16:1, "Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek: which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium". Thus would commence a close and intimate liaison between two disciples of Christ spreading the Gospel to the known world of the time. Timothy and Paul became very close, Paul describes Timothy as" my own son in the faith " (1 Timothy 1:2) and " my dearly beloved son " (2 Timothy 1:2). Timothy had obviously already been converted by Paul on an earlier trip. He was part Jew and Greek having a Greek father and a Jewish mother. The Bible tells us that he was not circumcised as an infant, but is described as a good Christian (Acts 16:1-3). Paul circumcised Timothy after deciding that Timothy was to accompany him on his next trip. Interesting point that Paul was to preach the gospel of the uncircumcision but in this instance he insisted upon circumcision. Was it so he could take the Gospel to other Jewish nations and be accepted rather than ostracised? Both Timothy's grandmother and mother are noted for their devoutness ("When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also" 2 Timothy 1:5) and he had been instructed in the scriptures since childhood, "But continue thou in the things |
which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus" 2 Timothy 3:14,15). He became a companion to Paul in various mission trips - Acts 19:22; 1 Corinthians 4:17; Philippians 2:19 - and included him in the salutations of letters - 2 Corinthians, Philippians, Colossians and 1st and 2nd Thessalonians and Philemon. In Hebrews 13:23 we read of his release from prison, "Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you". Ordained first bishop of Ephesus. Some believe that he acted as scribe for Paul in the writing of Hebrews and Galatians. He was known as a great student of Scripture (see also 2 Timothy 1:5; 2:15; 3:14). Whilst Paul was in Athens, he sent for Timothy and Silas who had stayed in Berea (near Thessalonica). Paul was concerned at the shortness of time they had spent in Thessalonica (4 weeks) and whether that was long enough for the Gospel to be understood. How were the converts doing? As a result of these concerns, Paul sends his trusted partner in faith, Timothy back to Thessalonica from Athens to `check out the situation'. "Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone; and sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: that no

man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain" 1 Thessalonians 3:1-5. By the time Timothy returned from Thessalonica, Paul had moved on to Corinth. "After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth .and when Silas and Timotheus were come from Mac |
edonia, Paul was pressed in spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ" Acts 18:1,5. Timothy was an active disciple of Jesus Christ, spreading the Gospel across the known world, assisting Paul. Timothy shared many experiences with the Apostle Paul, and obviously Paul trusted and respected Timothy. As co-workers they were complimentary to each other, as friends they were close. Unfortunately, as with the majority of the disciples of Jesus Christ Timothy met with a martyrs death. Tradition says that Timothy died in AD 97. He is said to have been stoned to death for denouncing the worship of Dionysius.&
